The research group’s participation in the RIAC presentation and conference
On 16 March 2026, the Research Group of Studying the Israeli-Palestinian Conflict took part in the RIAC conference ‘Conflicts in the Middle East and North Africa: Factors of Escalation and Trajectories of Transformation’
On 16 March 2026, the RIAC held a conference entitled "Conflicts in the Middle East and North Africa: Factors Driving Escalation and Trajectories of Transformation".
The conference featured several expert discussions:
- A plenary session;
- Presentation of the RIAC report ‘Conflicts in the Middle East and North Africa: Current Situation and Possible Dynamics’;
- Risks of conflict escalation in the Middle East and North Africa: key factors and triggers;
- Extra-regional actors in conflicts in the Middle East.
The conference was attended by members of the recently established Research Group of Studying the Israeli-Palestinian Conflict: L.R. Khlebnikova, PhD; G.V. Lukyanov; T.V. Nosenko, PhD; and M.S. Zubovsky.
The author of one of the chapters of the report "Conflicts in the Middle East and North Africa: Current Situation and Possible Dynamics" was the head of the Research Group of Studying the Israeli-Palestinian Conflict, L. Khlebnikova, PhD in History, who presented the main points in her speech. G. Lukyanov addressed the issue of contemporary ideologies in the Middle East in his presentation. T. Nosenko and M. Zubovsky took part in the discussion.
Leading Russian experts participated in the conference, including representatives from the Institute of Oriental Studies of the Russian Academy of Sciences, the E.M. Primakov Institute of World Economy and International Relations of the Russian Academy of Sciences, the G.A. Arbatov Institute of the USA and Canada, MGIMO University of the Russian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the National Research University Higher School of Economics, Lomonosov Moscow State University and other institutes, universities and research centres.
